Shoyu Chicken
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Kikkoman shoyu (soy sauce)
- ½ cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 piece ginger, peeled and crushed
- 2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tablespoon Mirin (optional)
- 5 lbs. chicken thighs
How to:
- Combine all ingredients in a large pot.
- Add chicken
- Bring to a boil
- Lower heat to medium and continue cooking for 30 min or until chicken is tender.
- Serve over a bed of rice.
Review:
Although this does take a while to cook, you really don't have to do much work which is what I love the most! If you like the sauce to be a little thicker you can add 1/2 t flour. Overall this was a very yummy recipe. Enjoy!
Hey Jeanne, I would definitely try this at home. As a meat lover, this shoyu chicken is really attracting my attention, and seems like it is really easy to cook(maybe). Also the ingredients are very easy to find. Especially there's a market next to my house, I would definitely try this at home.
