Shoyu Chicken





Shoyu Chicken

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup Kikkoman shoyu (soy sauce)
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 piece ginger, peeled and crushed
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Mirin (optional)
  • 5 lbs. chicken thighs

How to:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large pot. 
  2. Add chicken
  3. Bring to a boil
  4. Lower heat to medium and continue cooking for 30 min or until chicken is tender. 
  5. Serve over a bed of rice. 

Review:
Although this does take a while to cook, you really don't have to do much work which is what I love the most! If you like the sauce to be a little thicker you can add 1/2 t flour. Overall this was a very yummy recipe. Enjoy!

  1. Hey Jeanne, I would definitely try this at home. As a meat lover, this shoyu chicken is really attracting my attention, and seems like it is really easy to cook(maybe). Also the ingredients are very easy to find. Especially there's a market next to my house, I would definitely try this at home.
